Speed Dial home page is blank and I can't access my dials

My home page and new tab pages are now blank and I cannot access my dials. It doesn't appear that my dials have been lost though as when I add a dial via the toolbar I can see my groups of dials and the number of dials in them.

I have done nothing that I can think of to prompt this change and it happened mid-browsing which seems especialy odd. I have restarted firefox with addons disabled and nothing happened unfortunately.

I have attached an image of the 'new' speed dial home page.

Add a search box under each thumbnail ?

What would be a killer feature would be to have the possibility to add under each dial a specified search box. We would have to choose which search engine (from the ones we already registered in firefox search box) we want to associate just like we choose the visual for each dial.
Let's say i have 3 dials, "cinemotion" "google" and "amazon".
We would be able to add a box under each that would launch a search with the definied search engine... of course we would have to define which search engine to use for each dial (or left it empty).
That would be great as i often open websites just to start a search in those websites, that would save a lot of time for many people like me, especially if you manage your search engines and use "add to search bar" add-on.
Let's say i want to search for "transformers" on cinemotion, i would just add to type "transformers" in the box below the cinemotion shortcut, and it would just launch the search on cinemotion.
Of course, one more time, available search engines would be user's defined.

It would be awesome: when browser in fullscreen mode > right click > an option to open a mini floating tabs/url toolbar so you could enter a url manually or switch tabs without leaving fullscreen. Like having a media player minimized.

Active tab color and "Double click to show Speed Dial" message

There should be an option to either change the color of or remove that blue bar at the top of the currently active tab. I like the purpose it serves, but blue only goes with so many themes. It's also practically invisible if you already have a blue theme.


Next, there should definitely be an option to disable tips such as the "Double click to show Speed Dial" message that pops up on your screen everytime you hide it. If you're knowledgeable enough about Speed Dial to turn that option off, then you'd certainly know how to make Speed Dial show back up after you've hidden it. There's no reason for that popup to appear every single time a new tab is opened when very few users would need a constant reminder like that.
