After your dials load as your homepage, go into Firefox Options and set your homepage to the current page. This will prevent the brief display of Firefox default homepage before Speed Dial loads.

If your dials are clocking, check for a dial pointing to a local html file. If so, consider moving the file to a bookmark instead.

Depending on how many dials you have, I would suggest editing dials to a longer update time. Select a time like every 15, 30, 45 minutes, 1 plus hours or days. Each dial time can be set individually or you can change it for all dials all at once in settings.

For the dials grabbing focus when updating, I recommend setting dials to update less frequently. Focus will still be grabbed when dials update, just less frequent.

Dials are fairly readable when in standard mode, 3 columns and maximum dial size. This screen shot is on a notebook with a 15.6" screen at 1366x768 resolution. If you are running on a large monitor, I understand dial size may be a concern.

Constant spinning may be caused by a dial linked to a local html file. If so, consider moving the local file to a bookmark.

I agree. I had a local html file in a dial, but the new version of SD continuously clocked the local file dial and all that followed. I had to remove the local file from the dial and set it as a bookmark instead.
